A recreation made in Final Fantasy XIV of the iconic Jurassic Park scene where Dr. Alan Grant, played by the late Sam Neill, remarks that the herbivores do move in herds. A dark-haired hyur, dressed in a blue tunic, clings to a sandy-haired viera, who embraces them in return. Both bear scars on the left sides of their faces: the hyur's are deep, carved into their flesh to the point that their left eye no longer functions; the viera's skin is warped by old burned flesh, the damage of which is also visible on his exposed left forearm. The hyur weeps into the viera's shoulder, tears streaming down their face. The pair lean against a bed, morning light streaming through a window on the left side of the frame. --- Faerval rests a tentative cheek against the crown of Rags’ head, uncaring that their hair is matted, nor that they shudder or that their tears stain the air between them with scents of salt and misery. “You will not be left alone at the end of this, my friend. You have my word.” The viera tightens his arm. “And we shall do our best to see Lady Satine back safely. For now, you must find the strength to press forward—if not for your sake, then for the possibility that you may yet see her smile in the days still to come.” For a moment, Rags freezes in Faerval's clutch, like a scruffed animal. Then they relent, sagging against him. They breathe out another unsteady breath as Faerval's cheek rests against them. Instead of turning away, they lean into Faerval, ruined hands searching forward. Slowly, they wrap their arms around their friend. Their arms are gangly, and they're shaking still—though it is only because they're crying in earnest now, head moving to Faerval's shoulder as they hold him awkwardly. "D-don't go back on it—your word, I-I mean it—I'll curse you—y-you hear me? I'll never f-forgive you if y-you turn out to be a-a liar!" “Should I ever lie to you, my friend, you have full permission to curse me as you see fit.” Faerval’s other hand comes to rest upon Rags’ forearm, clawed fingers providing the slightest pressure as if in further proof that the mage is precisely where they need to be.
